A decade of standing with the unheard
Manthan Foundation began in 2011 with a simple belief — that everyone deserves to live with dignity, respect and equality.
Born from community, built for community
The organisation was established in 2011 as a Charitable Public Trust by a group of diverse individuals and professionals with the aim of promoting community engagement and leadership in health, human development, gender equality and human rights.
Manthan adopted a participatory approach to engage the marginalised and underprivileged community in addressing their own concerns. Over time, our focus expanded to education, health and the environment — areas where the community was highly deprived of participation.
Our registrations include the Societies Registration Act (2010) and the Bombay Public Trusts Act, 1950 (registered in 2011).

Secular, apolitical, community-first
Manthan is a secular and apolitical non-profit organisation that works directly with the community to give voice to the voiceless.
Over its decade of operation, Manthan has strengthened capabilities in health governance, gender equity, education and the environment — by strengthening community engagement and participation, capacitating grassroots practitioners, and developing community-centric models and knowledge products.
